Composts Bark & Grit

Our composts are still much cheaper than you can buy from most other outlets. Our 150L bags of Strulch are cheaper than 100L bags on sale in a garden centre. It is reputed to deter slugs and snails which is ideal if you are a dahlia or chrysanthemum grower. In fact, Strulch is primarily a mulch and feed addition to the garden, and therefore will suppress some of the common weeds (though not those with deep roots such as dandelion and burdock).

Strulch is manufactured in Britain, entirely from locally sourced quality wheat straw with added iron minerals. For use on borders, raised beds, around cultivated fruit and on vegetable plots. Leave on beds for more than one year or work into the soil at the end of the season to improve soil structure and drainage. Strulch darkens with age when spread or in the bags to produce an earthy brown colour. Remove existing weeds and spread around established plants and shrubs to a depth of 3-4 cm on bare soil.
